Name: Kurt Wagner
Codename: Nightcrawler
Nickname(s): elf, fuzzy-elf, Spock-ears, blue fuzzy dude
Gender: male
Age: 18 (average of Evolution and comic book ages)
Status: X-Man
Canon: yes
Typical Wardrobe: Nightcrawler likes to keep his wardrobe mixed up, and therefore has a lot of things he likes to wear. No matter what he's wearing, though, he keeps his X-Men uniform underneath his clothes (or image of clothes) so that he's always read to jump into battle. When he's lounging around at home, he tends to wear a pair of baggy pants and a loose fitting red shirt. If he goes out he tries not to wear his image-inducer, because he realized that he really doesn't want to hide how he looks just to save people from being a little afraid of him. Instead, he wears a fedora that shades most of his face and a long cloak to hide the rest of his body, including his tail.
Physical Description: Nightcrawler, at first glance, is definitely not your average human. He's covered in a thin, dark blue fur with a texture much like velvet, from head to toe. His hair is a dark indigo mess that he let grow out so that it covers his neck and occasionally his yellow, very reflective eyes. He's got a long, thin face, but full lips that most cover his sharp, demon-like fangs. His ears, even, are pointed much like an elf's and protrude through his long, curly hair. Because light rays tend to bend around him, making him appear in shadow in near-direct sunlight, his eyes are almost always a glowing light in a dark, black shadow that curves around his cheeks. Nightcrawler's fur and face aren't only what make him unique. He has three fingers on each hand and two toes (plus a toe-like feature on the back of his foot) on each of his feet. They are a little larger than an average human's hand. Nightcrawler also sports a three and a half foot long prehensile tail with a triangular barb at the end. The tail can easily hold Nightcrawler's weight, allowing him to hang upside down.
Powers: Nightcrawler's most obvious mutant power is the ability to teleport. He can teleport in any direction, but when he 'ports north and west he has a larger range--two miles. East, west and straight up he can't teleport much over one and a half miles. Although it leaves both him and his passenger weakened, Nightcrawler is able to 'port someone roughly his size along with him. The farther he teleports with them, the more energy it saps from them both. Nightcrawler is also a fantastic wall climber, with the ability to adhere to the surface of a wall or ceiling. The molecular connection he has to the surface tends to be quite strong in most cases, allowing him to walk on the surfaces without much worry of falling. Nightcrawler, thanks to the color of his fur, is also able to go near invisible in shadows. The same phenomena that shrouds Nightcrawler in shadow while it's light outside bends the light rays so that only his eyes show while he is in shadow.
Personality: Despite his demonic appearances, Nightcrawler is one of the kindest people one would ever meet. He likes to play some innocent jokes on others, though not too often. Also, he likes to feel like he belongs, and if someone is afraid of him solely because of his appearances, he tends to pester them more, though always with a wide grin slapped onto his face.
Strengths: Nightcrawler is excellent at alleviating a dark mood in a room, thanks to his light behavior and tactics. Without going too far, he almost always finds a way to make the room laugh. Also, thanks to a lot of practice, he was finally able to 'port things besides just himself and the clothes on his back. He can teleport someone about the same mass as he, though not much larger, without potentially killing them both. When Nightcrawler was a child, he was in the Munich circus, and is an excellent acrobat. He is more flexible than the average man, and combined with his acrobatic abilities, can literally worm himself out of almost any situation. Of course he can fight, and he likes to brag himself as a swashbuckler. After a year or so of being a member of the X-Men, Nightcrawler picked up some medical abilities and mechanical know-how. Although he normally just treats the minor things, if he has to he can treat a patient in critical condition. But after studying a problem with nearly any mechanical device, or Blackbird, he can find a solution and get it running just as well as if it were brand new.
Weaknesses: Nightcrawler doesn't have such great durability, and consequentially is one of the first to go in a violent fight. He has trained himself to 'port with exotic speed, allowing him to take down a group of people in a short time, but it leaves him tired. Also, Nightcrawler has a tendency to underestimate his enemies, but he normally has his friends and teammates around to help him in those situation. Nightcrawler tends to be a little predictable as well, preferring to attack people from the top at first by teleporting over them. Nightcrawler's biggest downfall in a fight, though, is a sonic sound, leaving him defenseless and unable to teleport away.
Random: Nightcrawler is what some might consider a helpless romantic.
History: In Germany, Nightcrawler's mother, Mystique, rejected him at birth, because it had given her away as a mutant to a high-end, prestigious family. She had thrown him away in a river, and miraculously he had survived it and ended up in his foster parents' care. They had a circus, and once Nightcrawler was old enough, given him the star spot in their show. People had thought he was a human dressed up, and therefore wasn't a freak. Nightcrawler's step brother had then started killing off a village's people, and it was Nightcrawler's duty to to put a stop to it, ultimately killing him. The village then sought out the one who looked like a demon, thinking it was him that had threatened their safety. It was only Professor Xavier that saved Nightcrawler from death, inviting him to the X-Men. Seeing the situtation he was in, Nightcrawler accepted, and then moved from Germany to the United States in the X-Men's venerable mansion.
