Your Name: Kifu
Your Age: 15
Other Characters: Nightcrawler, Kifu, Liam
Role-Play Type: Intermediate

Name: Remy Etienne LeBeau
Codename: Gambit
Nickname(s): Gumbo, Cajun
Gender: Male
Age: 24/25
Status: Unaffiliated mutant
Canon: yes
Typical Wardrobe: When out of costume, Gambit likes to wear casual clothes. Jeans, with a couple holes here and there, or rips along the side. A white shirt, or of similar color, sometimes on his chest, either tank top or t-shirt. Other times, when he's by himself or with friends, he doesn't even wear that. But he always makes sure to wear sunglasses when out in public so his eyes don't give away that he's mutant.
Gambit's costume, however, is far from normal. He wears spandex like the rest of the super hero population. His shirt is largely pink, though his sleeves are black with pink squares alternating black along the sides. Then his pants are black, but also have the alternating pink on the outside of his legs. Then his boots come up to his mid-shin. Over top of that he also wears a brown trench coat, unbuttoned, flowing down to the back of his knees.
Physical Description: Gambit's hair, the color brown with a reddish tint at times, is quite long, coming down to mid back. He normally keeps it in a pony tail out of costume and keeps it hidden under his costume, making it appear as if he has medium length, poofy hair. Gambit's eyes are slightly squinty, though normal in width. His corneas, normally white in regular people, are black, his irises a blazing red, especially when using his powers. His pupils seem to be the only normal color about his eyes. Gambit stands at six feet two inches and weighs at 179 pounds. He's a muscular man, sometimes hiding it, other times showing it, but stands at a weird, leaning posture.
Powers: Gambit's most obvious mutant power is the ability to tap into an object's potential energy and transform it into kinetic energy. When he throws the object at a target, the energy is released in an explosion proportionate to the object's size that he charged. His power works only when he is touching the object, and he cannot charge any living material. Because of his ability to tap into energy, he also has enhanced, superhuman agility and dexterity. Gambit's more subtle power is a slight hypnotic charm that allows him to easier influence another with a sentient mind. More powerful minds are immune, and those who know of his hypnotic charm are as well.
Personality: Gambit fancies himself as a ladies' man. No doubt he has a charming personality and he's got enough charisma for ten men, but it also doesn't hurt that he possesses a hypnotic charm. He is flirtatious and seems to be too inconsistent to make a great boyfriend, but he is cunning enough to get away with a lot. Most of the time he plays it cool and calm, and with some pretty, silver words, he's able to talk himself out of enough situations. With enough confidence for five more people besides the ten, he doesn't tend to back down from a good challenge.
Deep down, despite his past of thievery, lying and cheating, Remy's a good guy. He has a consciousness, he knows right from wrong. Still, in order to save himself and the some that are close to him, Gambit will go through a bit of trouble and grief, though he tends to shy away from killing a living soul. Seeing as he was a thief once in his life, he would steal without a second thought, especially if it were to benefit him. He's a man who cherishes his money, he can manipulate people enough to get that money in nearly any job.
Remy has a strong mind. He doesn't like when people hold back information from him, but he hides his past away from his teammates. His arrogance might cause him problems at times, but if he can justify something he does in his mind, it's enough. He doesn't like to be bossed around, and though he doesn't like to play team leader, he knows what he wants most of the time and he doesn't have any problem to go off on his own without raising anyone's suspicion. He knows he's good at what he does, and that fact only raises his over-sized ego. He also likes what he does most of the time, making him that much more of a deadly foe.
Strengths: Gambit is bilingual, meaning he can speak both English and French fluently. He's a master at throwing small objects, such as knives and cards, and he is extremely accurate at his aim. He is an extraordinary duelist and fencer, and thanks to a life of thievery, is great at silence in step and movement and any other tricks of the trade. Some of those tricks could be picking a lock, which could rival even Storm's ability; breaking and entering a house without detection of even the best technologies; and pick your pocket without you even noticing.
Weaknesses: Gambit's biggest problems are social. He sometimes has a problem with authority and teamwork, so if he doesn't like what he is being told, or if he doesn't agree with the person in authority, most likely he goes off on his own and does what he planned to do in the beginning, totally disregarding the team. He keeps the dark past of his hidden from his team members, making him a very shady character, and sometimes that trust needed between teammates isn't shared with him. Remy also has a fairly large ego and is normally convinced that he is almost always right, even if he isn't.
Random: When Gambit doesn't use his cards as a weapon, he also has a staff that can shrink to one sixth of its length when Gambit isn't wielding it.
History: At birth Remy was abandoned, due to his unnatural eyes. He was taken in by the Thieves' Guild and was learned in the art of thievery. At age ten he attempted to pick the pocket of Jean-Luc, who took the boy off the streets and raised him as his own. Later, an marriage was arranged between Remy and Bella Donna as a peace negotiation, but Bella Donna's brother objected to the marriage, challenging Remy to a duel. Although the man was killed out of self-defense, Remy was banished from New Orleans in an attempt to keep the peace between the two guilds.
Remy then traveled the world, making both good contacts and just as many enemies. He used his skills as a thief to get by, aided by his mutant powers. It was during this time that he took a liking to cards charged with kinetic energy as his weapon.
At some point Remy went up to Mr. Sinister to help in controlling his mutant powers. The geneticist excised part of Remy's brain, reducing his powers to something more manageable and controllable. Being in Sinister's debt, he joined the Marauders, a team of assassins. The group was employed to massacre a group of mutants called the Morlocks, and when Remy realized what was happening he tried to stop it, but a Marauder named Sabretooth nearly killed him. Gambit managed to just get away.

RP Example:
It wasn't that Gambit was out to get a lot of money, not that it would hurt, but because there wasn't much to do with the acolytes, since it was a down time. Apparently Magneto didn't need them much. So, strutting off, leaving the others behind, he made his way through the city, not exactly trying to avoid any weird glances anyone would give him. If they did seem to notice him, he'd just nod at them, and they'd scurry off almost as if they'd seen a ghost. It was when Gambit walked into the bar that no one seemed to notice him at all.
In the corner of the dark, damp place, Gambit found what he was looking for: a small game of poker. Normally he wouldn't go off seeking a game so close to his base of work, but he didn't have enough time to go anywhere else.
"You gonna join or you just gonna watch us all day?" a big man asked. He was holding all of the cards in his hand and had a hefty pile of chips by his elbow. Gambit was surprised they were playing with chips at all; it seemed to fancy for this place.
"I joinin'," Gambit said, sitting down at the table and pulling out a wad of money. "How much to get in?"
"Just a thousand," the man replied, eying up the bills in Gambit's hand, and accepting it when handed to him. In exchange, a decent pile of chips were given to the Cajun.
"And the blinds are?" He looked around the table for the buttons and found that he was second from last in the round, thanks to the place he had sat at.
"Currently just twenty-five and fifty." Still staring at Gambit suspiciously, he handed out two cards to each of the players. Quickly looking at his own hand, Gambit kept his face straight, but instead studied everyone else's inconspicuously. The odds of the game almost instantly jumped to Gambit only a few rounds in. The only man who had spoken to Gambit jumped on him accusingly. "You a mutant!" he spat. "You readin' our minds, aren't you?"
Gambit, with a sly smile across his face, shook his head. "I can't read your minds. Settle down and get back t' da game."
"I won't stand for this!" the man shouted, pushing aside a couple of the other players and grabbing Gambit's shirt.
"I wouldn' do dat if I were you," Gambit said, though he made no move to get out of the man's grip.
"You, dirty--" He was cut short when he saw the two cards Gambit had in his hand started to glow.
"I ne'er said I wasn't a mutant, mon Ami," Gambit smirked. The man, terrified, ran away, letting Remy put his feet firmly on the ground. "Nice knowin' ya." Throwing the cards over his shoulder, he strode confidently away, already out of range when the smoldering power of the cards discharged into an explosion.
