Gambit found himself getting bored of just sitting around, twiddling his thumbs as he waited for something to happen. Gambit just didn't wait for action to come to him, he got up and brought the action to him. Gambit was the main reason some action even happened.
Getting off of his lazy bum, he started to walk down a random street to get a scope of the city, since it had been a while since he had dome something so casually. The street he walked down wasn't too crowded or noise, but for a city it was pretty peaceful. No one cried out for help and there were hardly anyone who just casually decided to take a stroll down the street, except for Gambit.
Having no real intentions at being here, except for maybe looking for some adventure, Gambit studied the faces of the few people he paced and found he unnerved some of them. Gambit didn't find any reason for wear civilian clothes or a hat, so he was in full costume, which put him out of place, and then when he looked at the other people they could see his unnatural eyes. One even screamed mutant and ran away. Turning around, Gambit cocked his head to the side and watched him until he disappeared from sight.

It wasn't the most normal day Rogue could remember. But, Rogue could remember alot of non normal days since she'd become an X-Man. She almost never came out in the tight black leather jumpsuit and black gloves what went past her elbows, but today she did. Her hair was down, the white streaks in it almost proudly taking the forefront.
Walking down the street, Rogue was getting a few strange looks, a few scared looks, and a few perverted ones. The leather was tight enough that Rogue was sure if she sat down and crossed her legs she'd tear off the whole bottom half. It wasn't a few blocks down the street she saw someone. A man, dressed in a pink...something and something blue. She stopped in the middle of the street, only about a foot away from him and stared. This had to be one of the weirdest things Rogue had seen in a long time.

From the people who did pass Gambit on the sidewalk, he didn't get much of a reaction, at least, from most of them. Gambit didn't think he even registered on some of the people's radars, since as they were walking down the street, they were so far into their own little world, Gambit wasn't sure how much of the world they were perceiving besides their own feet they were staring at. Of course, other people returned the glance Gambit gave them. Some of those people reacted just as they would to any other person and continue on their way. Some of them did shy away.
None of the people, however, reacted the way this one lady did. While others passed him casually, and a few minutes back, a man screamed mutant and ran on--Gambit wouldn't forget that for a while--none of them actually stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and stared at him, as if he were the only thing in their world. A little bit the opposite from some of the folk. He tipped his head to her in response, but other than that, did nothing more.
Remy continued down the street, as if the woman was no longer there. She was passed him, as he kept moving on, studying the people and buildings, and although she might be a little someone for a minute or so, she didn't react as radically as the one man. If she were to follow him, that would be a different story. Gambit just didn't think she'd do that. Sure, he wasn't wearing what most people did, and he figured that was the only reason she was staring at him, and for no other reason.

Rogue saw him walking away, and after a few seconds, turned around and started after him.
"Hey! Hey, you!" she yelled as she ran up to him, the leather squeking a bit. Putting her gloved hand on his shoulder, she turned him around.
"Ah was callin' you." Rogue said, her tone a bit annoyed for a reason she couldn't place. Then, she saw them. His eyes. Black where hers were white, and red where hers were brown. "They're....beautiful." Rogue said, suprising herself that the words had been spoken. She'd only been thinking it, and she kept looking into this stranger's eyes. Something about them was affecting her, like when Odysseyus' men had eaten the lotus flower.. She didn't want to leave that spot. Just wanted to keep staring into those eyes.

Remy was hardly away from the girl when he heard someone shouting behind him. Judging by how close the voice was, and the fact that it belonged to a female, Gambit was almost sure that it was the lady who had stopped in the middle of the sidewalk to take a look at him. It almost made Gambit laugh, but he continued on his path, walking at the exact same pace as he had been walking before. It wasn't that he was playing hard to get, he just pretended that he had something to do.
Then she caught up to him, and her voice displayed that she didn't catch up with him because of some social reason, but something else. At least, that's what Remy got from it. He didn't know why her voice would have such a tone, so he stopped and turned around to look at her. His face was devoid of most emotion, except for a mild curiosity.
"Beautiful?" Remy repeated after her, a little confused. Her eyes were plainly on his face, her face not matching her voice tone, but almost as if she was looking at him with awe. "What beautiful, Chere?"
She didn't move from the spot where she was standing. Her eyes were still on his face, unmoving, her facial expression unchanging. After a few seconds, Gambit got a little annoyed and waved his hand. He didn't know why he was acting so irritable; he didn't have anything specific to do. "'Ey, it rude to stare," he added, smiling slightly, almost nervous. What was this woman planning? His voice was a little light so that his words didn't seem that harsh, but a little joking, like he was covering up the emotion that would be slightly embarrassing to him.

Rogue was snapped out of her trance when the man spoke again.
"Ah-Ah'm sorry." she said, smiling embarassedly, trying to clear her head. Rogue sisn't exactly know why she'd been staring at him--besides the obvious fashion, but right now Rogue had no room to judge, a leather catsuit was just as strange-- but it had had something to do with his eyes.
"Your eyes. They're liake...liaked rubies or somethin'."

It finally seemed that Remy had gotten to her, not when he questioned her motives and her comment, but when he had gotten a little irritated. She looked a little surprised at herself, so Remy tried not to act like an idiot and add to the feelings of being uncomfortable. Unless she was one of those people who were anti-social and didn't know how to handle people, she would be feeling that way, Gambit was almost possible.
"It fine," Gambit assured her. His face was soft, but he didn't smile or wear his usual smirk. When she smiled, however, confirming that he was right that she would be embarrassed, he almost smiled himself, though he had enough control to keep it off of his face.
Now that she wasn't staring so obviously at him, and he wasn't trying to catch her attention so it didn't seem like she was in a trance, he quickly looked her over. He had a feeling that he wasn't going to quickly get rid of her. For some reason, that fact gave him mixed emotions. He was amused that he was being followed by her, even though she had just passed him in the street. He was a little irritated as well, because when he had left his place, he had been looking for mischief, not a lady; he didn't know if the lady would be an added bonus or not.
She wasn't wearing inconspicuous clothes herself, though they did blend in with the crowd a little better than Gambit. She was wearing something that almost seemed like a superhero costume. Although it was leather, and not spandex like Gambit's costume, it was still tight enough that it had to be inhibiting. Even her hair was a little unusual, though if it was died that way or that way for some other reason, Remy didn't have a clue. Overall, she had good form and a pretty face, but cosmetics weren't the only thing Remy looked for in a woman. Sometimes, but not often.
Remy was totally taken aback at her next comment. She wasn't in a trance, and Gambit certainly wasn't trying to seduce her, though he figured she'd be his within the second that he wanted her. His surprise showed through his voice when he replied to her: "Now dat da first time Gambit ever heard dat." It was true. Most people who caught his eyes automatically knew he was a mutant, and ran off, quickly away from him. No one actually liked his eyes, unless he was using his subtle hypnotic charm.

"Really? Ah'm supriased. They're liake...." Rogue struggled to find the words, then they came to her, her face brightening. "They're liake flawed rubies. Strange, but they're beautiful." she remarked, reaching her gloved hand up to touch the corner of one. Then, remembering she was in the middle of the street and this was a, no matter how good looking, stranger. Then she got an idea.
"Do you got anyplace ta go? Ah know a place you'll be comfortable." Rogue told him, putitng on a smile.

She was surprised? Why would she be? His eyes were more intimidating to other people than . . . rubies. Either this lady was off her rocker, or she had a strange sense for human interaction. And if she saw his eyes as something so beautiful, she couldn't have been a regular human. She had to have been a mutant herself or some human extremist. Gambit wasn't completely sure which one was true, but he had an inkling that it was the first, due to her strange appearance.
"Mos' people aren't as acceptin' as you, chere," he said in a rather nonchalant manner. He flicked his eyes in the direction that he had been walking, hinting that he wanted to keep going in that direction, but he didn't say anything of it. Remy tried not to be rude, especially to the ladies. There were rare cases in which he could not stand somebody, and he changed for them, acting coldly, but most people he got along fairly well with, aided by his hypnotic charm.
"Flawed rubies?" he echoed, refraining from rolling his eyes. "Don' know if dat ta make a man feel more welcome or put down." He smirked to show that he didn't really mean to offend her, even if his previous actions to her were more cold. Again he was taken aback that she thought his eyes so pretty, for it was unusual for someone to think that.
His eyes widened when she reached up, but he didn't move. He felt her gloved hand on his face, and though he wanted to flinch away, he resisted the urge. He found he sort of liked the touch, and he wondered if maybe this was a girl he could take home with him. It wasn't the best of homes, he knew, but she didn't know it right then.
She pulled away rather suddenly, so Gambit gave her a smile that he had withheld from her at length. She was a lady who seemed they couldn't make up their minds, but Remy knew that if he wanted, he could easily make it up for them.
"My homes back dat way," he told her, pointing his thumb in the direction he was speaking of. Deciding he might as well tell her anyway, he added, "Ain't da best o' places, but den again, ain't much of a person dat need a lot o' t'ings." Then he realized he didn't exactly understand what she was talking about at all. "Why?" he asked flippantly, curious but not demanding.

"Yeah, liake flawed rubies. Or black pearls. Ah only said rubies cause of the color." Rogue said, stopping herself before she said something stupid.
Keeping her smile on, which grew wider when he smiled back at her, she answered "Well, Ah..Ah thought maybe you'd wanna see mah home. It's a safe place for people liake us." she said, mimiking his motion of jerking her thumb, just the opposite way he'd been walking.
Rogue felt somehow strangely connected to this stranger, even though she had no idea why. Maybe it was because of his difference. Not just in physical appearance, but in attitude. All the guys at the X-Mansion, excluding Kurt, Regnet, and a few others, were scared of her. Hell, some of the New Recruits barely came near her.
